Ever feel like this?

Are you interested in adding another 15 years to your life?
Would you like to become a more generous and loving human being,
be able to recover from illnesses quickly,
laugh more often,

and  protect your closest relationships from 'meltdown' ?

Imagine that changing one thing in your life could do all that.

Learning to reduce your stress response can help you achieve all of this.

*Stress is pervasive, life threatening and very modern
(source HeartMath Institute)

  • An estimated 75% to 90% of visits to primary-care physicians are for stress-related complaints.
  • In 2002, people in the United States alone bought nearly $17.2 billion worth of antidepressants and antianxiety drugs, up more than 10 percent from 2001.
  • According the Centers for Disease Control, adult use of antidepressants almost tripled from 1988 to 1994 and 1999 to 2000.
  • A Harvard study showed individuals who lived in a state of high anxiety were four and a half times more likely to suffer sudden cardiac death than non-anxious individuals.

The Impact of Work Related Stress

  • Ill Health
  • Social Isolation
  • Reduced motivation and performance
  • Each case of work related mental health problems results in an average loss of 30.2 working days
  • In 2006 / 2007 a total of 13.8 million working days were lost to work related mental health problems

What is Stress and what can I do to reduce my response?

Stress is a natural response and when needed in every day situations can keep us alert and allow us to respond  quickly to everyday challenges. However many of us have learned to operate in  a constant state of heightened tension and over time we begin to run this 'programme' all by itself, without even having to think about it.
Allowed to run unchecked, this drains our immune system and it is only when we begin to experience physical problems such as chronic headache, irritable bowel, sub-fertility, heartburn, high blood pressure, arthritis or eczema (to name a few) that we think perhaps we should take action and do something about it.
Through learning effective stress reduction tools you can learn to change your stress responses and in doing so bring back a sense of balance and healthy optimism into every aspect of your life.

*Take the Heartmath Stress Test

See if any of the following symptoms apply to you or someone you know:

Irritability: Shorter fuse these days, the little things make you angrier?
Sense of humor: Laughing less, too serious?
Worry: Reliving or projecting future anxious emotional experiences? Depressed,
resigned over the way things are?
Excessiveness: Eating, drinking too much, too many mood-altering stimulants?
Forgetfulness: Can't remember little things lately, have mental gridlock?
Aches and pains: Recurring headaches, frequent gastrointestinal distress, tension in face, jaw, shoulders, back or chest?
Nervousness: Talking faster, more than in the past?
Fatigue: Feeling run-down a lot? Tired, but can't get restful sleep?
Illness: Suffering allergies, colds, flu and other ailments more often?
Time pressure: Often feel as if there is not enough time, too much to do?

If you answered yes to three or more of these questions,
there's a good chance you are experiencing some degree of chronic stress.

The good news is you can begin to change this now.

This study involved 38 employees with hypertension who were randomly assigned to a treatment group that received a stress-reduction intervention or a waiting control group that received none. The conclusion: A brief workplace stress-management intervention showed reduced blood pressure, improved emotional health and enhanced workplace performance.
